1. Gilmore Girls (2000-2007)
A mother-daughter relationship, where the mother is very young and is more of a friend to her daughter. This series follows both their lifes and relationships, and the life of the people in the small town they live in. You will see a lot of very good looking guys in this series. The dialog is very fast-paced and you have to pay attention to catch all the jokes and references they make. It’s at the same time a drama, and it has a lot of very emotional moments.
2. Veronica Mars (2004-2007)
A smart and beautiful girl follows in the footsteps of her father and becomes a private detective at a very young age (even if not officially). At her school she helps people with different investigations they need. This TV Series also has some major plot-lines, and the first one is that her best friend was murdered, and she is determined to find her killer.
3. Being Erica (2009-2011)
An average woman with an average life is trying to deal with failure and depression, when a therapist finds her and tries to help her (in a more non-conventional way). This TV Series involves time-travel, and you can read more about it in my post dedicated to this TV show.
4. Muñeca Brava (Wild Angel) (1998-1999)
This is a telenovela; the only one in my lists. I know, you will laugh, but even now, upon re-watch I can still say I love it. It’s a series about love mostly, between a very beautiful woman (Natalia Oreiro) and a rich guy who is out of her league and a total womanizer.
5. Drop Dead Diva (2009-2014)
A beautiful model dies in a car accident, and while in the waiting room for the after-life, she decides she has to go back to earth, so she takes action. But she ends up in another woman’s body. A more chubby woman, who is also a lawyer.
Both first entries on the list had a “revival” made, after a very long time. Gilmore Girls had 4 entire episodes made, in a mini-series called “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” (2016). Veronica Mars had a movie called the same as the series, which came out in 2014. I had been looking forward to seeing both of these “revival” movies, since I heard the first rumors about them being made. Now, after I’ve seen them, I don’t recommend seeing them. They are not (nearly) as good as the original series and if you are expecting something else (as I was), you might be very disappointed.
Other TV Series worth mentioning:
- Dawson’s Creek
- Samantha Who
- Gossip Girl
- What I like About You
- One Tree Hill
- The OC
